This week, family lawyers across England & Wales are highlighting that divorce doesn’t have to mean conflict.
Led by Resolution, Good Divorce Week 2025 focuses on the Code of Practice – the standard that shapes how family law professionals help separating couples put fairness, communication, and children’s wellbeing first.
The Resolution approach
Resolution represents over 6,500 family justice professionals who share a commitment to working constructively – reducing confrontation and supporting the needs of the whole family to find solutions that last.
The goal is to handle separation with respect and empathy, keeping decision-making out of unnecessary court proceedings whenever possible.
The Code of Practice
Resolution members follow a Code of Practice. This means:
What do Resolution Members do?
Resolution Members pledge to:
Why this Code matters
This Code is about helping parents communicate better, protect children from conflict, and reach fair outcomes that stand the test of time.
It’s also about reducing the stress, cost, and emotional toll of separation by keeping discussions respectful and forward-looking
A better way forward
Family breakdown can be painful – but the process doesn’t have to be destructive.
By following the Resolution Code of Practice, members work to restore calm, dignity and clarity so families can move on securely.
