Kal is a transactional lawyer with expertise in international contracts particularly in the areas of asset finance, corporate, oil & gas and technology.
She advises on a range of commercial transactions and her varied work includes ship sale and purchase, financings, joint ventures and cooperation agreements, share acquisitions, corporate governance, investment funds, procurement contracts and SaaS agreements.
Kal is qualified in English and Greek law. She’s also an accredited mediator and holds an MBA. Kal has experience working in London, Athens and Doha having previously been at large international law firms and has held in-house counsel positions at major international LNG transport and oil & gas groups.
She is a certified executive coach, serving as a coach or mentor to law professionals, executives and students and has been involved in initiatives in relation to refugees, career coaching and start-ups.

Experience
Energy (Oil & Gas)
- Advised on joint venture issues for the construction and operation of an FSRU in the Middle East.
- Advised on a joint research agreement concerning long horizontal wells and increasing oil recovery.
- Advised on numerous agreements in relation to procurement and oil and gas-related research including framework research agreements.
- Advised on participation of TV channels in engagements in relation to whale sharks in the oil field in Qatar.
- Advised on contract amendment for 21 support vessels’ operations of an LNG hub.
- Reviewed a number of commercial agreements for a refining, physical oil trading and logistics group, including industrial service agreements, KYC contracts, and parent company guarantees.
- Acting as the in-house adviser on numerous cooperation agreements relating to oil and gas research between an oil and gas technology centre and research institutions and universities.
- Advised on a joint research agreement concerning long horizontal wells and increasing oil recovery for an oil and gas technology centre.
- Advised on numerous agreements in relation to procurement and logistics for an oil and gas company.
- Acting as in-house adviser on a contract amendment for 21 support vessels’ operations of an LNG hub.
- Assisted in the execution and due diligence of lease termination and refinancing of 3 LNG carriers with local financing (~USD 500m).
Marine & Shipping
- Advised on and completed numerous sale and purchase agreements physically and virtually.
- Advised on joint venture issues for the construction and operation of an FSRU.
- Advised a financier on the financing and refinancing in the amount of USD320m of 4 luxury cruise vessels.
- Represented an IOM ship-owning group on the financing of 9 container vessels consisting of a senior facility by a Cypriot bank of USD149.8m and a junior facility by a Scottish bank of USD26m.
- Responsible for execution and due diligence of lease termination and refinancing of 3 LNG carriers with local financing (~USD 500m)
Banking & Finance
- Acted for an investment bank on a bond issue including drafting subscription agreement, bond notes, and trust deed.
- Acted for an airplane manufacturer on the deliveries of 7 aircraft, and drafted refund guarantees and related documentation.
- Advised and drafted information pack on Iranian sanctions for a Greek Bank from an EU and US perspective.
- Advised on the setup of an umbrella open-ended mutual investment Cayman Islands fund with a sub-fund dealing with Freight Forward Agreements.
- Responsible for execution and due diligence of lease termination and refinancing of 3 LNG carriers (~USD 500m).
- Coordinated release financing from international banks and refinancing for 4 LNG carriers with an Islamic bank (murabaha).
Other Corporate
- Advised on joint venture issues for the construction and operation of an FSRU in the Middle East.
- Advised on a joint venture agreement for the provision of agency services to an FSRU in a Greek port.
- Advised on numerous cooperation agreements between a technology centre and research institutions and universities.
