- Advised on high-value, cross-border proceedings relating to EU and UK design rights and patents in an innovative commercial barrier system widely used in international airports, factories and warehouses.
- Advised on a trade mark and board-level dispute for a London fashion label involving a broad range of actions, including breach of fiduciary duty, defamation, passing off, and trade mark infringement.
- Advised on a trade mark infringement dispute involving an internationally operating food delivery service and Asia-based new market entrant manufacturer of a design-led electric scooter.
- Advised insolvency practitioners and successfully defended long running, multi-claim High Court proceedings claiming trade mark and copyright infringement over all intellectual property rights in an online dating platform.
- Advised on allegations of breach of contract by two individuals claiming an interest in a highly successful dating app.
- Successfully defended and settled claims by a global independent music publisher regarding copyright and royalties in a broad array of music titles mainly, centred around the work of a multi-platinum sales and Grammy award-winning music producer.
- Provided strategic intellectual property advice to an India-based manufacturer of smart phones regarding Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) for smart phone technology.
- Resolved numerous disputes for a book publisher involving allegations of copyright infringement by other publishers and authors.
- Advised the founders of a UK-based not-for-profit company working to advance sustainable carbon removal on a range of intellectual property and start-up issues.
- Provided long-standing and wide-ranging intellectual property advice to a UK consultancy focussed on next-generation modelling to understand and navigate future uncertainty and consultancy on Net Zero dynamics and technologies.
- Advised on a design rights dispute relating to contemporary office furniture products.
Shareholder Disputes
Construction
- Acted in an adjudication in respect of issues arising from the delay in construction with a multimillion-pound renovation of a super-prime house in Knightsbridge with input required from numerous expert witnesses including on delay and quantum.
- Acted for Insolvency Practitioners in respect of claims for companies in administration focussing on claiming sums due under the insolvency provisions of JCT contracts and included adjudications against some opponents.
- Responded to a £1.5million ‘smash and grab’ adjudication concerning a JCT design and build contract which required an extremely fast and complex analysis of a large amount of documentation concerning around 15 separate applications for payment made during a period of over a year. 95% of the sums claimed were dismissed.
