Keystone Law licensing barrister Gareth Hughes is the lead lawyer working with premier real estate company Highgate on the new premises licence for what is proposed to be the tallest hotel in London.

The Highgate Hotel is currently under construction in Shoreditch and will rise to a height of over 300 feet. Its unique design, led by Gensler, is intended to look like boxes stacked on top of one another. The luxury hotel is set to have 200 rooms and will also feature a Sky Lounge, events space and a market.

Highgate is an industry-leading investor and manager of hospitality assets, with corporate offices in New York, Chicago, London, Dallas and Seattle. As a dominant hotel player it operates over 100 hotels and around 30,000 rooms around the world. Its portfolio boasts everything from legacy brands to bespoke lifestyle and independent hotels, and it is continuing to increase its presence in the European market.

Gareth commented:

I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with Highgate on such an exciting project and look forward to seeing what looks to be an impressive building once complete. This promises to be a challenging application process but we are working with council officers and police as well as planners and councillors to ensure we obtain the best premises licence for this wonderful new hotel.
