Keystone Law’s International Aviation team is now advising families who lost loved ones in the Air India 171 tragedy, including those who have lost multiple family members. The team has adopted a strict evidence-based approach to the potential causes of this tragedy, including the exposure of Boeing in the US Courts to claims by all families of AI 171.
The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch and Disaster Victim Identification are now in India assisting with the technical safety investigation as well as the DNA identification and return of loved ones to their families.
The team is reviewing the recent actions by the lead aviation insurer for Air India, TataAIG, in relation to early offers of financial settlement and the obligations of Air India under international law to provide advanced payments to all next of kin. Families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy should exercise caution when considering early financial settlement offers from insurers. The insurance company’s agenda, and that of their shareholders, is not the same as that of the families of AI 171. At this sensitive time, no familyshould be placed under any pressure, especially in relation to financial settlements. Each family deserves expert independent legal advice on their personal options.
Our international team has been joined by the top aviation claimant KC in England & Wales, John Kimbell KC, together with former US Navy aviator and highly experienced aviation attorney Daniel T Barks in Virginia (where Boeing is headquartered). We have also retained a former RAF fast jet and hugely experienced Boeing Captain, to assist in our independent technical investigation.
James Healy-Pratt, Aviation Partner in London commented:
“Our International A-list team continue to do the good for the families of AI 171, with the primary aims of establishing truth and justice. We understand the priorities of the families of AI 171 and stand by them in these difficult days.”
Families seeking confidential advice should in the first instance contact James Healy-Pratt or Owen Hanna.
