Robert advises technology companies of all sizes on the licensing of IP rights, including patents, trademarks, designs, copyright and know-how/trade secrets. He advises many businesses on the issues arising from the development, sale and purchase of products that use connectivity standards, such as 4G, 5G and WiFi, and the licensing of patents claimed to be essential to those and other standards.
James has litigated all IP rights before the courts of several countries. He is a qualified arbitrator and mediator, listed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office, CIArb, and other ADR providers. His practice covers all types of IP disputes, and ancillary issues in commercial litigation, employment, and insolvency.
