Keystone Law’s Mark Beer OBE nominated for prestigious legal award

Keystone Law partner Mark Beer OBE has been named as one of six nominees for ‘Legal Personality of the Year’ at the annual Law Society Excellence Awards.

Now in its 14th year, the Awards showcase the very best solicitors from across the industry. Nominees for the ‘Legal Personality of the Year’ category are selected by senior editorial staff of The Law Society Gazette for their outstanding contribution to the legal profession.

Mark is a highly regarded commercial lawyer with considerable cross-border experience. During his 24-year legal career, he has been a judge, worked in-house, worked in private practice, built hedge funds, advised governments, and run private- and public-sector organisations. In addition, he was the first English solicitor to be appointed President of the International Association of Court Administration, is a visiting fellow at Oxford University and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s expert network.

Mark is passionate about resolving problems and is widely known for his work relating to AI and justice. Covid-19 has added a new urgency to work on technology-enabled dispute resolution and in the last year alone, he has co-founded the University of Oxford Deep Tech Dispute Resolution Laboratory and is currently leading the LawTechUK project to develop an online dispute resolution platform for SMEs.

Mark said: “It is an amazing honour to be shortlisted for this award and I am delighted to be recognised for my work in trying to move the legal agenda forward in a way that delivers access to justice for those most in need using legal innovation and technology.”

Winners of the awards will be announced in a series of online ceremonies from 13 to 15 October 2020.
