Ioana is a junior solicitor in our Healthcare Litigation team with over 6 years’ experience of working in clinical/healthcare law. She mainly acts in the defence of clinical negligence claims, but also regularly assists in inquest and regulatory matters.
She advises high-profile insurers and a wide range of clinicians including doctors, dentists, cosmetic practitioners, psychotherapists and other healthcare practitioners whose practice is called into question either through claims or by healthcare regulatory bodies.
Experience
- Achieved an advantageous settlement in an orthopaedic surgery contribution claim following without prejudice negotiations, despite unsupportive expert evidence.
- Successfully opposed a vexatious litigant-in-person’s court application for permission to issue a claim, on the grounds that the claim had no merit and no reasonable prospects of success.
- Prepared persuasive Rule 7 submissions in a GMC regulatory matter arising from alleged disclosure of confidential patient information on social media, resulting in the complaint not being pursued by the GMC to hearing.
- Assisted in complex high-value litigated clinical negligence claims arising from rare cancers, leg amputations, post-partum brain injuries and wrong level spinal surgery, including attendance at round table meetings and mediation.
Career
Prior to joining Keystone in October 2022, Ioana worked at a top-20 UK City law firm and a highly ranked Chambers and The Legal 500 NHS Resolution panel firm in London.
